Dental Hygiene & Preventative
It begins with good oral care and continues with regular maintenance visits. Thorough cleanings performed by our Registered Dental Hygienists remove bacteria and deposits to ensure the gums and teeth stay free of disease. Good oral hygiene is the key to keeping your smile looking clean and bright, avoiding bad breath (halitosis) and helping with good overall health. Research in the last decade has uncovered evidence linking periodontal disease to heart disease, diabetes, respiratory problems, stroke and low birth weights in infants.
For most patients, a regular periodontal visit is every 6 months. However, some patients require more frequent cleanings to ensure that we are staying on top of their oral health needs. A customized frequency is set for each patient's specific needs along with other preventative services like digital x-rays, fluoride treatments, sealants and oral cancer screenings.
